Project Development Information

Introduction

Development and capturing and preserving a family tree is essential for understanding and honoring one’s heritage. It provides a tangible link to past generations, offering insights into family stories, traditions, and values that shape identity and belonging. By documenting lineage, personal connections to ancestors are deepened, and valuable historical information is safeguarded for future generations. Preserving a family tree also allows families to celebrate diversity within their roots and pass down lessons, achievements, and cultural heritage, creating a legacy that enhances both individual and collective family identity.

This work is based on the following projects:

• Shamlou Dynasty: Excel Workbook developed by Majid Zandieh
• Zand Dynasty: Excel Workbook developed by Majid Zandieh
• Family Genealogy: Excel and Python programs by Yahya Nazer
• Family Tree: Excel and Python programs by Yahya Nazer

Majid Zandieh in 2020 developed the Shamlou Dynasty and Zand Dynasty Excel workbooks. Yahya Nazer, a member of the Shamlou Family, received these packages and began converting them to a web-based product, starting with the Zand family.

Family Genealogy

Yahya Nazer began Family Genealogy and Family Tree projects to capture the history of the Nazer Family.The engine to convert Majid’s work to a web-based solution uses three worksheets:

• DB: Extracted data
• Database: Individual member data
• Relationship: Member relationships

Family Tree

The Family Genealogy feature allows navigation up and down through family connections, showing each member with their parents, spouse(s), and children. Family Tree displays all relationships on one page, enabling users to click on members to view their detailed genealogy.

Find the member of interest and click on their picture to access the Family Genealogy page.

Path Forward

Tasks currently in progress:

• Finalize Zand Web: Distribute information to the Zand family.
• Develop Shamlou Web: Distribute information to the Shamlou family.
• Develop Nazer Web: Ongoing development.
• Publish Family Tree Development Guide: Work underway for an Amazon KDP publication.
